We will have our Black History Celebration on February 27.
Please be in attendance for our Black History Celebration on February 27th, 2025, where our scholars get the opportunity to showcase their talents.
The scholars intentionally practice with excitement and glee.
Expectations for reading:
1. Read to understand.
2. Ask questions as you read.
3. Take your time to read and choose the best answer that support the text.
4. Take your time to review the answer you choose.
6. Reread the question and the paragraph.
5. Be Confident!

January 2025 Newsletter
I would like to take the time to express my appreciation for your support everyday by sending your child/children to school.
Your partnership and consistency is what makes our 2nd grade classroom community great.
I will be encouraging our scholars to thrive academically, socially, emotionally and become critical thinkers.
I am here to support our scholars Academic Learning, Emotional and Social development. As a classroom community we will defeat the odds and create thinkers and system changers.
January 28th, 2025 will be an important day for our scholars; on this day our scholars will take the middle of the year I-READY Reading Assessment (MOY).
In addition to that, we review vocabulary words and listen to the meaning of the words in context.
In this I-READY Reading Assessment our scholars are tested on:
(a) Phonological Awareness
(b) Phonics
(c) Phonemic Awareness
(d) Vocabulary
(d) Reading Comprehension
(e) Informational Reading
I believe in their ability to do well because our school curriculum Fundations and HMH Into Reading set the stage for our scholars to do well. In addition to that, I-READY creates the opportunity for our scholars to experience learning with technology in daily READING lessons assigned by I-READY and by the teacher.
Let us believe in our scholars and their ability to show impact in their learning growth.
Our first school-wide meeting will take place in the month of February 2025. This meeting is a strategic game-changer to support our scholars academically so that they can compete with other schools.
This meeting is critical because our scholars will be in 3rd grade next school year 2025. This grade is a testing grade, therefore, we will be preparing our scholars to thrive academically.

We are in a new month and I am looking forward to continue supporting our scholars academically, socially and emotionally.
My expectations for this month is to build our scholars:
1. Discourse around text-details, text-clues, supporting text-based evidence
2. Reading comprehension
3. Writing with intentionality based on text-based evidence
4. Use Reciprocal Teaching to develop purposeful text and math discourse.
5. Intentional parent engagement
6. Independently create questions about the authors purpose of a text.
I am dedicated to our scholars learning development. In addition to that, these expectations are critical for the learning shift in the month of December 2024.

Hello parents and partners my name is Mrs. Campbell-Rowe, welcome to 2nd grade.
